    Marlin 1895

What's up with these $2400 price tags on gunbroker. I thought maybe they weren't legit but they accumulate so many bids that this is a normal price for the SBL. Is this a price that would fly in the CG marketplace with current conditions?

A couple of things going on...

Freedom Arms wrecked Remington and then bought Marlin years ago and severe QA issues as they moved manufacture from North Haven, CT to Ilon, NY. I heard all the old school machinists were let go and it was moved to CNC. Early Remlins were awful but I heard they got better.

People think that a Biden presidency means no semi autos so leverguns will be the thing to get and the 1995 is famous from the movies.

In late 2019 I saw a $2K stainless model sold on GB. I believe all of these are JM stamped, pre-2010 models.

You can still get deals in LGS or pawn shops. A couple of years ago I saa a NOS JM stamped 1895SDG model selling for $800 and I saw a 1980s 336CS model selling for $500 this year.

I think Ruger will do a fine job with Marlin. Wish they'd bring back the Camp Carbine. Maybe they'll kill off the
      Papoose.

I'd love to see Handi Rifles come back! I still have a lot of fun with my Handi's in AAC 300 Blackout and Cowboy Carbine in 45 Colt. When they were available I had added 12GA and .357 Mag barrels to the Cowboy Carbine.

Guess I should have waited longer to list my CSBL on gunbroker.

I've fallen out of love with my 1894PG in 44 mag. Maybe I should sell it

            It's a JM marked model

Just goto armslist and use vendors only.

Production on those models is halted, therefore there is no supply to meet demand and the price goes up. I loved my 1895, would consider buying another in the future, but no immediate need personally so wouldn't pay a premium at this time. I doubt you could break 2k on cg, but when I posted mine a few months go at a reasonable price it was snapped up in minutes and I got well over 20 inquiries. I wouldn't be shocked if you could get well over msrp at the moment.

you're right, why do you think gunbroker prices and armslist have such big price swings if both are legit?

Dude, first, it's not an 1895. That decreases the value a lot.

Second it's one of the most undesirable caliber. You can't get around that.

Finally, the "JM" stands for Junk Maker.

I'll give ya $350 provided you pay the FFL and half the shipping.
