I hope that people who are also putting jewelery, coin collections, and other high asset items into their gun safes are looking at the big picture. If you are putting these all in a RSC rated safe, you might be under secure. You should do the math the value of what you are securing versus the value of how you are securing it. You may need to step up to a TL-15/TL-30 or whatever rated safe or better.

BTW - CGN has a subforum for safe questions. FYI.

If you cant afford an expensize safe, look into alternatives. File cabinets for handguns, old school lockers for long guns, control boxes from the telephone, cable, electric co., etc. Old refridgerators and freezers can have locks added to them too. OR, my favorite, take a broken vending machine and trick it out. Here is one I did a while back. I have done two of these, plus a safe.

Obviously all of these take some modification, preferrably some welding, but if you are broke it beats the heck out of sticking them under a bed or in a closet. Fire protection from a good safe is hard to beat though.
Love this! Not the most fireproof and probably not the safest but in terms of being low profile, this is great!

Agreed on not being fireproof. It is insulated, so it is better than just sheet metal I suppose.

As far as security you would be suprised. It is definately more secure than any safe I found under $400, but the camouflage is the best part. AND it costs less than $200 and stores 28 long guns.

Though not perfect, it does its job well.

is it really necessary for your gunsafe to be fireproof?? i've seen some a homedepot, it looks all good but it's not fireproof.
