I've been using the Peltor range gaurds for a while, they work great and look nice.

Read all the way through this thread to get to this! I use and recommend the Pro Ears Gold. Their literature says that they have one of the highest clipping rates of any electronic ear pro. Basically it means that, after suppressing a sound that was at a potentially harmful level, they turn back on quickly. This means that you hear more.

But on a hot day in summer, my ears get too hot inside over-the-ear pro. Then, on outdoor ranges I use the Peltor TEP 100. I use them with the skull screws because they stay in better (for me) than the silicone eartips and provide an increased level of protection.

The Pro ears are available with a band that lets you wear a hat that does not conform to your head, like a cowboy hat. The Peltors I mentioned are completely wireless, no connecting band that goes over the head. So they are compatible with any kind of head wear.

          Yup.

Keep in mind my set is probably 15 years old at this point. The electronics are great and probably the best sounding of the three sets I have (MSA Supreme Pro X and Howard Leight)...although my version uses an obscure battery type. But I believe newer versions use a more common battery now.

The muffs work great now. But initially they were HORRIBLE at blocking noise (their primary intended function). And by "horrible" I mean they were dangerously horrible. They simply did not block the noise. It took three trips back to the factory with them upgrading the electronics and the foam before they were usable. They work fine now albeit they're pretty bulky.

I've heard a couple other stories like this on the Pro Ears but a ton of folks rave about them. So maybe I just got a bad set. And as I said, my set is pretty old so I don't know what their current version is like.

Yeah, I like mine, but I'm not sure if they are the best if you want wireless.

OP, You might look into these Peltor Sport Tactical 500 Smart Electronic Hearing Protector with Bluetooth. Definitely get the gel cups, they make all the difference in comfort.

sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

I just ordered the Sordin Supreme Pro X w/gel cups. Hopefully the range doesn't shut down before I can get a chance to try them out.

My son came to visit at Thanksgiving and he used his Air-Pods Pro with noise cancelling when we shot guns outback. They worked well...

                      Air-Pods Pro for Hearing Protection?

Sounds pretty sketchy. "Air-Pods Pro" have no NRR rating and don't claim to be hearing protection devices...
