    LAX Ammo 9 MM 229$ for 500

During my drive through wonderful west LA I decided to stop at LAX ammo. Surprisingly no wait to get in. What I did find surprising though was. They had plenty of stock. All at the new normal price.

    Except for 1 item.

LAX Ammo new 9 MM 500 rounds for 229$.

I thought why not, and asked for 500 rd container.

The gentleman behind the rail tells me there is a disclaimer on this item.

    Known bad primers
    Known FTF
    Known FTE
Heard of firearm damage due to ammo.
Estimate 2 of 10 rounds are bad.

Said no way. Asked why would they sell this knowing they could potentially injure someone or destroy a firearm.

The gentleman just told me people are buying them.

No more LAX Ammo for me.

500 rounds is a case now? These guys are clowns. Charging 3x the price for a case less half the quantity. LAX Ammo is trash selling junk ammo!

They’re selling Factory 9mm in San Diego for $.70/round.

Ran into the same place, spewing the same thing. Selling ammo that could potentially hurt yourself and/or others.

My last bulk purchase of any LAX-manufactured stuff was .41 Magnum, and for the Starline brass it was built with. Because I no longer own a revolver in .41 but just shoot the stuff from a Marlin carbine, I must pull the plated bullets from my remaining stock and replaced them with .410" Hornady XTP. Makes a great plinking round, then I have once-fired Starline brass! Win/win.

The rest of my purchases from LAX are for product like Win White Box .45 Auto in bulk, and the odd commercial spitzer-bullet rifle fare.

Without LAX Ammo, I would not be as well-stocked and as prepared as I was for the outbreak of the Dempanic and for the resulting national run on firearms and ammo.

I stopped buying any of their reloads or "New Manufactured" semi-auto pistol stuff years ago, and for the reasons posted in the OP, or at the very least the potential for those reasons.

LAX Ammo has been a boon to local firearms owners and shooters for decades, now. I for one am grateful for their existence.

People want ammo! If they want to buy sketchy stuff, I at least like the fact that they're being up front about misfires, FTF, etc... (I sincerely doubt they're double-charged; never in over 15 years have I heard of a blown-up gun using LAX reloads).

Problem is that this is a country-wide, and arguably worldwide issue. Stock is depleted, simple supply/demand economics.

There was a post in another thread about ammo prices over the last 8yrs with a graph showing the fluctuation in prices. We're likely still on the way up, the market might not peak for another 3-6 months. I wouldn't be surprised to see Brass Cased FMJ 115gr 9mm going for $1.25/rd in 3-6 months with the current trajectory. There will be a price ceiling, at $.70/rd I personally can't justify further ammo purchases - but there are still people buying first time guns and they're going to need ammo and will pay the price.

Also, people buying known defective reloads...that is another topic in and of itself - I don't know why LAXAmmo is willing to put their customer's at risk with unreliable ammunition, but they are disclaiming that there are duds and flubs and I'm sure their legal team cleared it. Desperate times.

Personal experience with LAX "factory new" is about 1-2 FTF per 100 rounds. Seem to be from hard primers.

Talk to a guy at the range he bought 556 LAX reloads and thinks one blew up his gun so they paid for his upper and told him to throw away the bullets. He said he kept them and is still shooting them...

Back when you could still order online without an 03, I'd buy Freedom Munitions blem ammo. But it was cosmetically flawed, not actually bad. That seems negligent to knowingly sell bad ammo with a disclaimer.

The disclaimer should be, this is for reloading components only. It also seems stupid and risky as a business, not just a consumer. If anyone with half a brain damaged their gun with this stuff, just claim it was their regular ammo. That's not any less ethical than selling known bad ammo.

Lots of ammo on gunbroker. But most, like me, won't sell to kali because of the hassle. If you can find an ffl that makes it zero hassle for a seller to ship to him, that means no forms, no signing, no friggin thumbprints, no drivers license, no nothing, you might be able to beg some sellers to sell to you.

These places exist and deserve so much business because of it - good business owners should be rewarded for their service. I'm a self-claimed fanboi of one such establishment and will, for as long as I can, do business with them and them alone.

A few weeks ago i did by 500rods of the ammo in Question. Got it for $235. They did tell me that it had dented primers and that i might get some FTF-FTE. Well i have used about 300rds and did not have one issue. Ran it in my M&P-XD-Shield-andLc9s.I always try to remember that it is a contolled explosion in a steel tube and that there is a risk every time a round is fired.

A few years ago LAX sold me new 357 mag. 2 out of 10 would not fit in the chambers of my S&W. I returned them and they gave me boxes of name brand to make good. I still buy their new loads, just not as often.

Isn’t that how LAX ammo has always ran? Didn’t know the disclaimer was necessary their stuff is junk.

Dang that’s expensive, I’m sure there loading components were purchased in bulk at a bulk price.
