One of the old school pistolsmiths. Rest in Peace Terry Tussey

Received news that Terry has passed. Pistolsmith of the year 1960.

Used to go to his shop in Mound House when I lived close by.

    Rest in peace.

RIP sir. I have a stainless 1911 that he breathed magic on. He used to have a shop on Grand in Santa Ana.

      Rest In Peace Mr. Tussey.
I met him years ago at the Del Mar gun show. He gave everyone the time of the day- we were lucky to have him in our lives.
      Take care everyone.

Funny I met him there at Del Mar too. Really nice guy and super talented. I know he was injured years back on his mountain bike. God Bless him and his family.

Sad news. I live not far from his shop, it was nice to be able to drop by and have 1911 work done. He was a good man and a heck of a gunsmith.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

              RIP Terry

MR. Tussey taught the guy that taught me how to repair. Between the two of us we didn't hold a millionth of Terry's knowledge and skill.

Rich and Terry were good friends.

Used to talk with him all the time at the Culver City gun show. Small venue. Not much traffic so he didn't mind chatting to pass the time.

He would show me all of the cool, new stuff he was planning. At the bigger shows he only had the finished guns out. I remember a compact carry gun with an integral compensator with a huge opening on top. He also gave me some hand-checkering tips that helped quite a bit. I was always amazed how smooth the slide to rail fit was in his guns.

Very knowledgeable and more importantly always willing to share his knowledge. RIP.

                        Then said He unto them...
"and he that hath no 1911 designed by my servant John Moses Browning,
let him sell his garment and buy one."
And they said, "Lord, behold, here are two Glocks."
And He said unto them, "Meh, it's a good start."

                        Luke 22:36-38 (somewhat paraphrased)

Sad news indeed. It was through reading an article about Steven Seagal's 1911s in Guns & Ammo magazine in the early 90's that I first heard about Terry Tussey. We also loss Jim Garthwaite not too far back.

Never met the man. R.I.P. sir. I've certainly heard the name. Sorry to hear of his passing. The real masters of so many of the skilled trades/crafts are dying off. You can only hope they passed on half of what they knew.
