Who makes this OWB holster or one like it?(pic)

Wife wants to OC a G19 when hiking alone. She's been asking me to find her a holster and likes this one in the image below.

I kno TWAW makes custom holsters like this for ladies but their lead time is like 6 months right now.

Any recommended ready to ship or few weeks lead time vendors out there?

    Thanks in advance!

that could be any number of kydex hostlers... start with something like a blade tech or another reputable brand.

if it were me I would actually like something a little bit longer to make sure the front sight is fully in the holster

That is a lousy design. As B stated, the front sight should be protected. You could try Concealment Express or Bravo Concealment.

Try JM Custom Kydex. I am looking at one for my G17.

crap, I'm an idiot, Bravo Concealment is what I mean not BladeTech - I have two of their holsters sitting right here nest to me on my desk...

though I have heard good things about Blade Tech as well, I have never personally handled one

Looks like generic kydex, so any reputable brand will have something very similar.

With that said, look at the details - Which mounting solution would you like? Is retention adjustable? Do you want the muzzle (and sight) protruding, or do you want to protect the sight (and where it digs into body)? Is a simple open-top what you're looking for, or do you want more retention for OC? Do you plan on using dedicated single belt, double belt, just a regular belt or no belt?

As a general rule, very slim and minimalist holsters are for concealed carry, and very bulky retention holsters are for duty carry (LEO-s). The standard open carry for most people is somewhere in between, often with an extra level of retention such as Safariland ALS, but many also prefer just a well-fitting open-top kydex. Where you get extra options with OC is in mounting system - anything from Bladetech Tek-Lock and Safariland QLS to belt loops and rigid belt attachments. You should definitely look into these to see what works best as it will be part of the decision.

Very standard Kydex holster. Tons of people making/selling them now. I've dabbled in Kydex and made similar holsters in about an hour.

Great discussion and recommendation, fellas. I really appreciate it.

My wife is concerned about "look" and I of course, am more practically minded but don't know how function is different for women.

Great catch about the front of the pistol, didn't think much about that. I do IWB myself.

Check out the Urban Carry Holsters.

I just got one of their Lock Leather IWB holsters for my H&K VP9SK and my lady uses the G3 holster for her Walther PPQ subcompact. I love both of them, very comfortable, and one thing about the G3 is that it is more of a pouch than a holster.

Before I picked up my HK, I was nearly set on an FN 509, because I loved how easy it was to get on target with the raised silencer height sights. Only problem is those sights are easy to get caught during your draw in a conventional holster. With the G3 holster being more of a pouch, that was not a problem.

Also, regarding your wife's worry about "look", I think the G3 is perfect for women because they can wear a dress, skirt, whatever and the G3 helps blend in with whatever clothing choice they want.

It's not just the front sight that needs protection, if she slides down a rocky embankment wearing that, she may discover her gun has gotten smaller. Even worse, accidental upward push of the muzzle may pop that gun out of holster.

OP, your post is the most basic, crappiest and IMO frankly dangerous of cheap kydex holsters.

As stated above, if she carries with one in the chamber, I am not at all a fan of two piece kydex holster like this. Particularly for beginning CCW people.

As stated above, just a slight push, even as she sits down, can pop a loaded striker fired gun with no external safety and one in the chamber out of the holster. There are a lot of real world SD scenarios where it is easy to lose your own weapon if you use that type of 'simple friction retention' holster.

I'm not a fan of the Serpas (sp?). But at least with those you have to depress a button to release the weapon. All of my holster use retention straps of some sort.

I have trained beside people, generally beginners using this kind of cheap holster. On the clock, and I have seen this happen, it is easy to, catch the front sight blade on the bottom edge of the kydex(plastic) and 'A' rip the gun out of your own hand, and/or 'B' end up disarming yourself as a loaded gun flies out of your hand and back to the ground. That can be an exciting moment standing on a firing line with ten plus people in proximity.

Kydex is a fancy work for plastic, which also has a high 'co-efficient of thermal expansion/contraction'. Another fancy term. What this means is on hotter days, it will take less force to pull, or bump that loaded striker fired weapon with one in the pipe out of that holster.

The front blade and the muzzle will get trashed over time. Now glocks have cheap sights anyway. So you may not care about that part. I've been married OP. If that's what she wants, that what she wants. Those are the cheapest and most basic form of plastic holster. If that's what she really wants those are easy to find if you spend the time. G19's are about as common a semi auto pistol as there is. THere's gotta' be a hundred people that make that type of kydex pancake holster cheap. There's also lot of choices of better ones.

For not a lot more money, i.e. less than $20 more, you can at least get one that is fully enclosed at the bottom so she won't accidentally bump her own loaded gun out of her own holster.

Buy her a Vedder or G-Code. She can pick out kydex colors.
