    Stolen Shotgun and DROS

Excuse my ignorance, I searched and couldn't find the answer.

I recently had a shotgun stolen (reported with serial). If someone attempts to sell it through a FFL, what will happen?

Nothing. If your shotgun is PPT (unlikely) at an FFL the serial numbers are not transmitted to anyone. Just kept of the copy of the 4473 at the store.

If new owner gets caught doing something stupid they might run the number and trace it back to the guy who PPT'ed it in the store.

Again...unlikely. It will be sold over and over on the street until someone is caught with it.

The odds that somebody would legally sell a stolen shotgun are slim....cash and carry is all that will happen with it.
