Refer to section 29180PC. Since July 2018 Polymer 80% frames are required to have 3.7 oz of stainless steel embedded in the frame for the serial #.Comment

Yep, roger that. And the plate in the frame is not nearly that weight
I thought I saw someone pin and weld a metal mag well extension and engrave their serial # there.Comment

Currently...
1. It is CA legal to advertise "80% receiver/frames" for sale in CA and to transfer (buy/sell/etc) them in CA.
2. It is CA illegal to utilize a polymer "80% receiver/frame" to make a firearm in CA.
This is because no commericially available polymer 80% has the CA required 3.7oz of PH 17-4 stainless steel embedded in it, in such a manner that removal will significantly damage or destroy the receiver/frame.
3. It is CA legal to possess a polymer "80% receiver/frame" in CA, as long as it not utilized to make a firearm.
Starting 07-01-2022, it will be CA illegal to make, import, advertise for sale, or transfer "80% receiver/frame" in CA, unless it is done by or through a CA DOJ licensed vendor or CA FFL dealer. Transfer will required CA DROS and background check.sigpic
