Make sure you know everything about the gun you're buying so the other person can't pull a fast one on you. Watch youtube, read about the different models and their differences. Make sure they are not trying to give you a mag that holds more than 10rds or blocked, some stores don't like that. A nice itrader rating I would trust more.
You go in together, the buyer pays the 10 dollar transfer fee and their own DROS. Some stores don't like money being exchanged in the store, call the store first. Then both of you do some paperwork. -
When you call the store, be sure to ask them what they require as far as residency and ID documentation.
Before you hand over your money, inspect the weapon carefully, and do a dry fire function check.

I assume you are buying.
FSC
Real ID
Cash on hand
Car registration and ID at your current address.
Make appt if needed at the FFL.
Be prepared to buy a lock.
Make sure the FFL will release on "undetermined" if at all possible. Esp. if they do not, but either way, make sure what the seller will expect if you cannot get the gun.
Pistol or rifle?
