The best way to find out what you need is to go to a match and ask. There will be more than enough resources to point you in the right direction so you are not buying more than you need.

I'm still trying to find a match location here in SoCal, since the Rona. I shoot each month in Oakdale, CA.

Here is a link to Double Alpha they offer all kinds of gear and resources:

Here is a link to the USPSA rules pages:

I started with a CZ 75 Tactical Sport in .40, but now all I shoot is Single Stack in .45 which is more challenging with the 8 round limit.

Hi, I am using cheapo krydex belt and mag pouches and blade tech holster

If you are shooting prod, I suggest 5 mag pouches since you can only have 10 round in each mag (regardless of mag capacity). I do 5 mags on belt and 1 in pocket that I use at the start of the stage to load and make ready.

For CO you can use the full mag capacity. I think starting prod and looking through a few red dot will help you choose.

Also, not sure if you have +2 floor plate but pretty sure your gun won’t fit in the “box” if you use

      Good luck have fun!

      Edit: typos!

Production is DA first shot and limit 10rnd to mags

Limited could be either DA or SA w/ safety on and use standard mag

CO would be same as above

Open would be same as above buf if you had a light mounted or something.

Personally I change between gun platforms allot from match to match so my Belt is modular. Each holster has Bladetech Teklok system w/ drop offset on some holsters, Mag pouched are HSGI tacos. Not the super fastest mag reloads but my belt is modular. I can swap from CZ to any other brand I have in less then 30 seconds.

Join some matches and learn what works best for you.

Minimum six mags, pouches on belt for at least five.

Blade Tech holster is as good as any other. You can spend some serious money on holsters and holster hangers, but if you think about it, you use the holster twice during any stage, once to draw, and the other to put the gun away. Only one of these has any affect on your score, the draw, and it's only once per stage, so it's not a big deal which holster or hanger you pick, just make it a quality one so you're not wasting money replacing it later.

DAA, CR Speed, or Safariland belt system, you can try other options, but 98% of the shooters are using the DAA/CR Speed or Safariland two piece belt system, you'll end up with one of them in the end, so save yourself some money and get their from the start.

For mag pouches, I like these: https://cpwsa.com/pistol-accessories...-glock_9_40_rh

cause they're affordable, and don't take up a lot of real estate on the belt. I can get six easily reachable on the belt. Use whatever you want, best move is to go to a match and see what people have.

Have a few spare mags, you never know when you're going to step on a mag during a match and ruin it, or one will act up, best to be prepared.

And an Uplula loader, just cause loading without one is dumb.

A range bag to carry your stuff to matches.

That's all you "need". The rest is wants, which you have to figure out yourself.

            Are you just starting off?

Then I would suggest just getting BladeTech or CompTac holster/magazine pouches for your setup. Then get a heavy duty gun-belt that can take the weight... Run a few matches with the setup - then you can start exploring other gear that will give you an edge.

Starting off - it doesn't really matter much... Just be safe, shoot straight and don't overextend.

If you are going to ask me, this is what I will get in your shoes (and would work for Production/Carry Optic divisions):

            CompTac holster for a Shadow 2: https://www.amazon.com/Comp-Tac-Inte.../dp/B074TVM9BB $60

Ghost 360 magazine pouch (set of 3): https://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Hybrid-...dp/B07CK99Z78/ $50 x 2 = $100 (if you are going the Carry Optics route, one set of 3 should be fine)

            Shooter's Connection Competition Belt: https://www.shootersconnectionstore....lt--P4644.aspx $40

OR get a "bundle" like this one: https://www.ghostholsterdirect.com/s...ybrid-rig-set/ from $160.

The above setup should be sufficient until you get to the mid-classes of the sport.

Whatever you buy, make sure you understand the equipment placement rules if you are going to shoot production or carry optics. There are rules about placement relative to a straight line though your hip bone, the height of the gun and the distance from the belt for the gun AND mags.

Shooting production will be tough, in that you’ll be doing a lot of reloads, which at speed is tough for someone new to the sport. In Limited class, you’ll only reload once, at the most, per stage.

If OP is new to the sport, moving efficiently should be the last thing in the OP's mind....

I don't think anyone here would like the OP's mind thinking about the following while trying to ensure good hits on paper WHILE being safe:
                  1. Shooting while moving
                  2. Shooting while entering an array
                  3. Shooting while exiting an array
                  4. Reloading while moving
                  5. Getting the gun up on target before getting to position
                  6. Contribution to leaning
                  7. Position entry and exit
                  8. Low center of gravity
                  9. Proper use of eyes and muscles
                  10. Efficient transitions between targets (one of the biggest time waste in the shooting sport)
                  11. Etc. etc.

Dude. Let’s make this as simple as possible.

Need pistol, holster, 4 mag holders, belt, and 5 magazines total. That is it.

The main thing to keep in mind is just be safe. That is it.

Do help tape and reset stage. People notice and are more willing to help if they see you doing it.

Do not think you will be JJ Racaza, Max Michel, or any other GM guy. You will suck and you will suck more than you think. That’s fine. Everyone who shoots sucked bad at one time.
