Be prepared in the suburbs

The burbs...bet the best action will be on "Next Door". My city had that issue during the Floyd riots. Some kids from a Metro area were driving through neighborhoods then walking around houses. These houses were probably in the 3 million range. Cops were called (some didn't respond, and the ones that did found no threatening behavior or issues) and then pictures of the group were posted on next door that rioters are moving into town by nervous housewives. The college kids went to the main newspaper and said that they were part of a "shark tank" type school project for minority entrepreneurs. They were on a field trip to see nice areas for motivation to do well in business (and decided to do this during the height of the riots). The newspaper called the town full of racists in multiple articles since they monitor "next door" and saw the comments and interviewed the fake group (also failed to research the group since it was made up). It was a classic race bate set up and the college kids story was BS. The college group and the media exploited it. It got elevated to online threats from a bunch of groups along with Antifa etc.
The Sheriff was monitoring the escalation of online threats and had National guard in the downtown and closed down the main off ramp to the city. It was amusing to see some Hummers and guys with M-16's.
All in all, a very stupid and non- eventful. Pranking the rich folks and invoking rage through social media due to panicky people due to ill intent. That is what will probably happen in the Burbs. Maybe someone who just bought a handgun for the first time may shoot their foot when loading it for the first time. Just don't see the need to lock and rock my AR for home defense right now.Comment

There's more to being prepared than having guns. I genuinely hope that post election is a snooze fest, but there is no harm making sure you have enough groceries in the house to avoid needing to go out for a couple of weeks, just to avoid getting caught up in anything.Comment

Cities have had months to prepare. If you're in Seattle or Portland it'll be more of the same.
Antifa is a bunch of p***ies. Doubt anything happensComment

I'm fortunate to live in a nice area . . . and far away from any main streets or businesses. We are also 'deep' within our tract of homes. That being said, we are still pretty well prepared, thanks in part to people on this forum. I have zero clue as to what may or may not happen . . . but I feel a lot better being prepared.Comment

Or not.
All these riots, past and present, more than 30 years' worth. All the crime I read each about each day.
Where? When? Not on my street. Not on my door-step.
There's a monster under the bed if you really, really, really keep chanting to yourself there is.
BLM and ANTIFA are not and never have been on my street, or my neighborhood for that matter, and I really don't think the suburbs, the working class, even the suburbs of Beverly Hills - are their targets.
For that matter, just WHO is it you may be seeing in those neighborhoods that you THINK are BLM and ANTIFA?
The same snotty, entitled privileged brats that grew up just down the street from you, and got a new BMW on their 16th birthday, that's who.
The very kids that live in those neighborhoods pulling off wanna-be stunts but they are no more BLM, ATIFA, or ELF than they are MS-13, Zetas, Sinaloa, Yakuza, Armenian Power, or Cosa Nostra for that matter.
Anyone can grab a can a spray-paint and impress upon others they're the real-thing; doesn't make it so.
Don't get much graffiti 'round these parts, but the few times I have, it never fails to entertain - because the local kids always get the symbolism wrong. No different than many years ago when kids were painting pentagrams, 666, upside-down crosses, and 'Helter Skelter' on everything - yet they were about the furthest thing from a Satanic cult or the Manson Family as Malibu Barbie.
I'm close to 'DTLA' than the O/P and most anyone else, and nothing so much more as people littering in my neighborhood has been the most amount of relatable crime I've experience.
Have hear all these warning before, more than prepared, but more than doubtful much will arise out of it in the suburbs (unless of course you live along-side a major street or thoroughway, and then you're not really in the 'suburbs'.
Not worried in the slightest.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?Comment

Just east of East LA. We're ready. Closing shop for the week and keeping family home.
Last time the mall in our city was targeted our PD shut it down before it started.
Hopefully all that happens is that I get some much needed rest.Comment

My sentiments exactly. Otherwise, my neighborhood? The crickets cause more fuss than what anyone and their Karen is imagining might happen. The burbs...bet the best action will be on "Next Door". This exactly. If anything happens out here it will be isolated assault or lack of availability, either one is fixed with shopping now and staying home in evening and night.

There’s nothing to loot in the Valley besides a few dozen boutiques along Ventura in Studio City, Sherman Oaks, and Encino. Your house in the far western reaches will be just fine. In the flats only shoe stores and pot shops will be hit but I just don’t see a whole lot of it happening there.Comment
