Question on B&C stock

Picked up a B&C stock for my remmy 700 tactical. Second hand but like new. Question is, it has a short picatinny rail mounted up front on the LEFT HAND SIDE. Any ideas the use? Do they have side mounted bipods?

Use it to mount a weapon light. In the event you need to make a snap shot in the dark, it will help.

It's probably not very common to mount a weapon light on a bolt action but I feel that's the most likely reason if a rail is mounted on the left-hand side.

Edit: Meh, maybe for hunting at night?
