Very true of course, but are there any major aftermarket triggers that have proven regularly unreliable?

i.e.; everyone makes a lemon now & then but if you stick with a company like CMC, LaRue, Geissele, etc; you're virtually guaranteed a perfectly reliable trigger.

Obviously and of course you need to thoroughly test out any firearm that you even dream of potentially using for self defense, but I doubt anyone will be let down with any of the major trigger makers.

The financial benefits are a secondary consideration right now. Most people who reload maintain a reasonable stock of components (i.e., a "low water mark" threshold for components) so that the current ammo and component shortage isn't much of an issue. Also, if one is willing to undertake the effort, one can build MUCH better ammo than factory loads.

You have to do a little fitting to time the disconnector, but it's one of the better single stage triggers you will ever shoot in an AR once setup properly.
        2nd to this.

Also if you would be interested in a 2-stage, the ARGold trigger is fantastic. Love mine.

Before I retired on a fixed income, I made some "practical" investments in my armory.

One of these was an AR Gold trigger for my lone AR-15. I would do this combo again in a heartbeat, and may, next year when supply returns to near-normal.

Anyhoo... and here's where it gets amusing: the carbine is a $699 M&P Sport II (now featureless using an Option Zero stock then tossing the flash hider and the bullet button). I won't shoot it enough to be concerned with barrel wear, but I do like the concept of a $299 trigger that drops into a $699 gun!

I console myself every time I shoot it when I experience that terrific, glass-rod-break trigger. And I can take that trigger to any lower I want.

The rest of the time I like my Wild West Trigger Happy triggers in my Marlin lever carbines.
