Sorry, I though you and Dad would have to meet at an FFL to transfer it.

Depends if dad is in state and meets ftf or will ship. If shipped must go tr=hru ffl as intrafamilial transfer. If father resident of ca and meets ftf then oplaw.

I think you can do more then 1 gun at the same time.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

If your son files the paper copy, I recommend using a personal check so there is a record of the transaction. They will immediately cash the check, but he won't see an acknowledgement for quite some time. The check provides a record that they've received the report.

He can also do the transaction electronically through CFARS. It's quicker, payment by credit card and an approval receipt.

If both the father and son are CA residents, then:
            1. Father hands firearm to son.
            2. Son reports the transfer to CA DOJ BOF.
            3. Reporting can be done by, either:
            A. Downloading the Report of Operation of Law or Intra-Familial Firearm Transaction, completing it, and mailing it to CA DOJ BOF.
            B. Going online to CFARS, accessing CRIS, and submitting a Report of Intra-Familial Firearm Transaction online.
            4. Within 4-64 weeks of CA DOJ BOF receiving the report, they will mail an acknowledgement letter.

If the father is a non-resident of CA and the son is a resident of CA, then:
            1. Son finds a CA FFL dealer that knows about and willing to facilitate an out-of-state intra-familial gift transfer.
            2. Father delivers the firearm with a gift letter and a copy of his State DL/ID to that CA FFL dealer.
            3. The CA FFL dealer transfers (4473/DROS/10 day wait) the firearm to the son.
*Failure to utilize a FFL dealer to facilitate the transfer equates to a Federal felony for both the father and son.

If the father is a CA resident and the son is a non-resident of CA, then:
            1. Son finds a FFL dealer willing to transfer a firearm to him.
            2. Father delivers the firearm to that FFL dealer.
            3. That FFL dealer transfers (4473/NICS/etc) the firearm to the son.
*Failure to utilize a FFL dealer to facilitate the transfer equates to a Federal felony for both the father and son.
