I have built (assembled) a half dozen different guns, including an AR-10. I was talking to a friend about the build process and he asked if I'd build him an AR-10. I told him I'd shop for parts and stand over his shoulder while he did the assembly.
So I started to shop for parts and found that parts are really scarce/expensive right now. I suggested that he buy MY AR-10 and I would build another one when parts come back in stock. I charged him the cost of the parts when I built it: $650.
Then I get an ad from Brownells for their BRN-10; a reproduction of an early Armalite AR-10 that has always interested me. They sell the complete rifle for $1300+, BUT they have the parts on sale now for up to 60% off. So I bought all the parts to build one (minus some small parts and the FCG) for $650.
So, bottom line: If anyone else is interested...
