I’ve been in the market for a small chest rig to hold extra ar mags and came across this knock off rig. The reviews seem okay. For range use/shtf, seems like a good deal considering it already comes with inserts.

    Thoughts?
I hate knockoffs...you get what you pay for IMHO and deserve it too.

Stuff like that you’d want to see first hand. The construction and materials of it needs to be examined. Things could rip and fray at the wrong places with hard use.

Based off experience, off brand names, replicas, clones, whatever you want to call them, theyre made for airsoft and for looks. For example I didnt want to fork out too much money on a helmet cover, and counterweight pouch for my helmet. I tried these off brand names from Amazon that look exactly like the brand name items I wanted, and the quality wasnt bad but i could tell it wasnt the best. Things started to fall apart such as threading, the material was thin and felt like it could rip easily. I then invested and bought brand name items and I could already tell the difference that the quality was 2-3 times better. I couldnt be happier and my advice is to save and get the brand name items. You will be able to tell the difference in quality. Like they say, you get what you pay for and its true.

Looks like a fanny pack with shoulder shoulder straps.

It'll work for all the 99 percent of the urban, weekend warrior, boogarloo wannabes. If you're actually going to Afganistan, look for the real thing.

They call it a "Chest Rig" but it's hanging down closer to the stomach in their picture?? And it's empty. This could be a clue. I'd pass on it.

I still favor my ACU Eagle RRVs I picked up at the PX in Kuwait.

What's wrong with Holosun? They have been fantastic.

For those of you with actual fighting experience, do you prefer a system with the magazines in front or the side/back?

I thought I read that veterans wanted to get closer to the ground and did not like anything that got between them and the ground.

Since we're on the topic of Hailey...I recall seeing a YouTube video of him running / testing a Holosun on one of his rifles. You just know a bunch of people went out and started buying those and running them on their rifles.

On the forums, if you aren’t using aimpoint, eotech, or trijicon you’re putting your family at risk by being too cheap

That being said, I had a holosun made romeo5 on my first rifle and the battery did not last nearly as long as advertised, so I can see how some would be hesitant.

Edit: if it’s a “shtf” purchase, maybe get a mayflower plate carrier at a minimum?

Look at Condor , 5.11 or any of the others. o.p. . Theres cheaper or similar priced chest rigs . That are better known quality out there.
