Gunbroker is just a venue to sell. It’s just the demand for guns driving up the price. Nothing new

I don't feel so bad now when I bought mine for 800 after the Gilroy mass shooting.

If you're an AK collector, you'll pay any price!

SCAR 17's are a lot easier to find than those things.

Gunbroker still has a long way to go before they catch up with the spectacular ludicrousness called Calguns Marketplace. My current favorite is this one posted by a CGN noob:

            $5800 for a $1200 gun.

This is why I wish Calguns would implement a policy requiring at least 100 substantive posts before you're allowed to sell in the Marketplace. If they did, you probably wouldn't see an asking price of a a penny more than $4000.

In any "collecting" hobby, having the original box and paperwork, and the item being practically new, is a significant part of the value. This obviously isn't just somebody's WASR shooter. I know nothing about these particular guns and why it would be rare, but there's more to it than "just a gun". Same as milsurps get way more money if there's bringback papers, or documents it was assigned to some particular unit/person etc. It's still "just a gun" but that's not where the value is for collecting.

In an auction anything goes for a penny to a million dollars and the seller has very little control over it. It is a gamble for the seller and the buyer sets the price.

Does it make a difference if it's pre-ban? That would be pre-1994, right? Didn't Clinton stop importation of a lot of stuff after that? It could drive up the value. I took the title from GB and entered it in Google and came up with this.

Scarce Pre-Ban Hungarian SA85-M Semi-Automatic AKM Style Rifle with BoxImported by Kasnar Imports of Harrisburg, PA. Post front and military style adjustable tangent rear sights, standard manufacturer and import markings on the left side of the receiver, and matching visible numbers. With blonde hardwood forend, grip, and buttstock with a smooth steel buttplate with cleaning kit in the trap. With original box with two extra magazines, leather sling, and plastic solvent/oil bottles.
