    Just Curious... The GAU-5A

I was just curious to see if anyone had played with a GAU-5A.

For the military... The USAF Created a Mini Rifle That Fits in Its Ejection Seats

I've seen a couple of 'reviews' on YouTube...

Midwest Industries markets it to civilians as a 'pistol.' But, I guess what I'm really interested in is the Cry Havoc Tactical Quick Release Kits and their durability, repeatability, strength, etc.

Like I said, I'm just curious. I don't think you'd accomplish much with a 16" barrel in terms of compactness and I'm not interested in AR "pistols." But, curiosity got the better of me and I thought I'd ask.

I’ve never ejected from an aircraft before, but I know the seat separates and very often ends up nowhere near the person it was attached to...

I can't imagine that would be anywhere near legal in anywhere in California

It can be built legally on a registered AR pistol frame in CA, right? Until the ATF decides pistol braces actually make SBRs, that is.

It makes sense for a downed pilot. But for a truck gun, it would take longer to put together.

Survival gear is either in the backpack, or the seat cushion, so the gun would remain with the crew member, regardless of where the seat ends up.

They have come a long way since their first survival rifle the AR-5. My daughters first gun was an AR-7. I bought it for her in 1977. It was small enough for her to use, she was 5. She still has it. https://www.americanrifleman.org/art...ar-7-explorer/

About 12 minutes into the 2nd video, he explains how they strap in and the survival kit is attached.

Nice, I don't recall ever seeing a bolt action model.

I would assume so since it's not the GAU-5A. Can you identify the manufacturer from the logo at the end of this video?

                          Isn't that an Anderson Manufacturing?

                          Here's the installation video...

Good eyes. Yes, it is a poverty pony lower!

Does Midwest sell the upper by itself?

I've been looking based on your question and I don't see one.

I did find one outfit which appears to have a .308 PISTOL upper/barrel assembly (12.5" barrel), a 5.56/.223 PISTOL upper/barrel assembly (10.5" barrel), a 300 BLKOUT PISTOL upper/barrel assembly (10.5" barrel), and a 9mm PISTOL upper/barrel assembly (8" barrel) listed on their website as Out of Stock/Available on Backorder.

They seem a bit... expensive. But, since I'm not into AR Pistols, that may just be me.

I don't know anything about them, except that they have an YouTube Channel and, I'm speculating, based on the license plate for the truck in one of the videos and the area code for their phone number, that they are in Texas.

I have absolutely no idea of what the legality of these would be in California. But, it gives you something to look at anyway.
