could someone point me to the specific ordinance that says its legal to discharge in a national forest/wilderness


otherwise the way i read it you are guilty of carrying loaded weapon "in any public place or on any public street in a prohibited area of unincorporated territory" --12031(a)(1)

then way down at 12031(f) As used in this section, "prohibited area" means any place where it is unlawful to discharge a weapon"

Laws don't tell you whats legal only whats not legal, that being said its legal to discharge in a National Forest since you can hunt there.

You can carry concealed while hunting without a CCW if you have a hunting license. I'm pretty sure he's not talking about hunting.

No its not, the law that covers this specifically says you can unloaded conceal carry to-from the hunting/fishing expedition and that you can only loaded conceal carry once you are on the hunting/fishing expedition.

you are right, but thats a very small disadvantage in the jist of things. I hunt often, so in my case i utilize my rights alot.

You're confusing National Parks with the National Forests.

National parks you can't have an accessible weapon period, because of this i try to keep my backpacking to national forest land



as for discharge, every wilderness permit I have gotten has specifically said it is illegal to discharge except in an emergency or taking legal game

Guys, it is a national forest. That means loaded open carry is 100% ok. Check with the local ranger station, as some areas have different rules on shooting. But for the most part you can go target shooting or hunting til your heart's content, provided you don't start any fires, are 150' from inhabited structures, are not shooting across roads, and clean up after you are done. That is what National Forests are for.
