    AR500 Round Metal Bar

Have a couple sets of the AR500 plate holders. The problem is the metal conduit that I use for the structure just doesn't last.

Has anyone purchased a AR500 hardness round metal bar to use in the target stands?

I drive a u or t post into the ground, grind it to only be the size of the target. Only big enough to get it off the ground. I don't care if it is "human" height, a hit's a hit.

Can you post a picture of your set up?

I have a cheap rack plate and the frame is black abs plumbing plastic.

The black pipe take an amazing amount of jacket shrapnel.

It does need to be handled with gloves due to the jackets. Black pipe does not shatter like PVC

If you post a pic of your set up, we might be able to offer better ideas for solutions
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

        Stop shooting the stand?

If you build the entire contraption with AR500, what’s it going to weigh?

I personally use 2x4s on metal bases and hangers and they last 4-5 outings minimum.

The thicker conduit will shatter like pvc pipe, is that what you are using? The thin lighter colored stuff is soft and will take hits better. Carry a bunch of couplers and a pipe cutter, you can repair the conduit and swap it to a leg position. You can also try stuffing rebar inside but 5.56 will still pierce the rebar.

I use rebar with fire hose and a stand caked "the last stand ". Lightweight, rebar is cheap, and it's lasted a ton of outings at a public range. Idiots shot it with 308 and 556 at 25 yards and it's held up. Why you shoot a 308 at 25 yards is an amazing question that I have yet to answer.

I already have the AR500 hangers for the metal pipe setup, they have stood up well. Here is a pic of my setup, looking to replace the top conduit pipe with a solid AR500 style.

I have a similar set up. I’m happy if I can get the top bar to hold up for a days worth of shooting but I always carry a spare. It’s electrical conduit so it’s not too expensive. I have used a wooden dowel or smaller pipe to make it last through the day.

The thing I like most about the set up, like you have pictured, is that I don’t have to mess with the chain.

I haven’t seen the AR 500 bar you speak of but would be interested if others have and would like to hear their feedback.

I use "The Last Stand" plus 3/8" rebar. Lasted about 3-4 years.

Set up a Quit shooting my target stand fund.
Something like a swear jar, $5/$10 a wack to offset the cost of maintenance.

Exactly. We usually have 4+ people shooting at it for 5-6 days. It gets hammered. Usually have to paint it a couple of times.

All my shots hit the plate
