The expiration date on my license was on my recent birthday, I turned 71(damn!). I understand and have read that my license is automatically extended for 1 year due to covid, this i know is fact, the dmv website says chp and doj have been notified, however, a clerk at a gunstore in Orange told me I couldn't dros gun because my license has expired, he told me that what the dmv says is not right in the gun world". Anyone know the truth on this?

You're right about the 1 year automatic extension. However, they probably don't want to deal with exceptions to the rule. When checking their paperwork, they want to see the unexpired date on the license.
How about get yourself a temporary paper extension to appease their laziness (or incompetence):

I turned 70 several months ago. I went online and obtained all the necessary paperwork check off for a Read DL. Took it all to DMV, along with the original paperwork and with my "priority" number was inside quickly. Paid my fee, and did not have to take a written or eye exam. Out the door in under an hour. So if you renew early you can avoid the written and eye exam. Thanks, I guess China Flu was good for something.May I always be the type of person my dog thinks I amComment
