Yes, as long as the rifle is not configured as AW it can be imported through a CA FFL.

Also, I would not chance a transfer hassle with a muzzle brake, an $8 thread protector leaves no doubt that it is not a flash hider and you will not have to worry about the transfer FFL arguing it as a possible flash hider. You can always change it out later but the last thing you want to do is have the sending or receiving FFL raising a stink about the muzzle device.

Does not have to come from ffl unless your ffl here specifies that it does. Check on transfer fees with ffl herer can be 35 up to 150 bucks plus dros and taxes.

              Check with your ffl.

It's his decision on how he will accept. Not what the internet.says.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Price around too. I paid $35 to transfer my vepr at Fairfield pawn, and $105 to transfer a franklin armory lower at Antioch armory. Transfers they can charge whatever they want.

there are sponsors that can take the rifle as is and convert to CA legal before completing the transfer to you.
i think you can also transfer the upper only and not assemble it until you replace the grip and and pin the stock, if needed.
i know you can do that for ppt.

Or just leave the muzzle bare. It isn't going to get smashed up in shipping.

Yes, some FFLs have ben reported to not want to accept an out of state transfer unless it is being sent featureless from the manufacturer, distributor or an FFL direct, such as RifleGear. So always check with the receiving FFL.

Can I have a private party sell me a rifle shipped from their FFL to mine from out of state as long as he sends it in a featureless condition?
Like I send him a fun grip, fixed stock, and muzzle brake that he puts on the rifle and then takes it to his FFL?
                        Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
The biggest thing is to talk to your FFL and clarify everything before you have something shipped.

Some FFL's will want the gun shipped ONLY from another FFL.
Other FFL's will accept from a private party as long as the seller includes a copy of their drivers license.
You might not even need to send the seller ANY new parts.

Just ask the FFL if they will accept the firearm in a disassembled condition which is therefore not an AW.
Then you can swap the parts out yourself after you pick it up and before you final assemble it.
Other FFL's will want the gun to arrive completely assembled in a non-assault-weapon configuration before they will DROS it to you.

Talk to your receiving FFL before you do anything else.

Ya I figured it would be easier to ask here since most LGS are too busy to even answer the phone, but it sounds like it would be best to reach out.

Make sure it's also not banned by name (assumed it's an MSR based on neutering evil features).
