    Trading Ammo not Selling

    What is the law on trading ammo not selling it?

    Can I do a straight swap or does it need to go through a PPT?

      I’m sure this lame state requires an FFL. I just sold a few hundred rounds to someone through an FFL. What I didn’t expect was the exact round count per make of ammo. So if you’re trading a mix bag, you’ll need identify and count every single different cartridge. As at least this is what happened with the sale.

      RGarb has a really good idea tho.

        Only in Ca can you not legally trade something like for like that you legally own without paying the state to say it’s ok........

                Technically from the legal sense, a trade is the same as a sale; an exchange of valuable consideration and a transfer of ownership/title.

                  Some people ask too many questions.

                    Ughh! I had this question as well. I knew the answer but with no maoney changing hands I thought there might be a chance. That's the point of trading, right? I've got something you want and vice versa, we swap and the world's a better place. Not in CA.

                        Cannot believe nor understand why the question is even asked.

                            OP;

                            Trading is statutorily The same as selling or gifting.

                            Remember, the intent and spirit of the law in California is to put as many law abiding gun owners in jail as possible or at least make them prohibited persons.

                            Safety is just a punchline.
