Larue: their shop, their rules...

I am currently living in Washington State, likely will be here for a few months. I have a local address. I ordered some 6.5 Grendel magazines from Larue Tactical. Best price on these and in stock during this panic. Now, this is perfectly legal as far as I know. I am building a new upper and getting my ducks in a row. Plan was to block them before coming back into CA. Well, apparently the spectre of CA looms large on the internet. I got an email with the following message:

"Hello, Unfortunately this order will be canceled. One or more of the items are restricted to either the state listed in the billing or shipping address."

Yes, my billing address is still CA but shipping address is WA. Their shop, their rules but i'm still very annoyed. To paraphrase a notorious preacher, not "God bless California", "GD California"!

I never understood out of state vendors who are overly concerned about retarded CA laws. Can CA go after them? Are there any cases of this happening?

LaRue is hardly the only company with this policy, we have a lot of threads here with "fill in the blank" doing it too.

Use a Visa/MC or Amex gift card, then you can put any billing address you want because there is no billing address.

Years ago they DA sued an out of state vendor. But they were sending mag kit INTO CA. I am shipping to a legal State. I get it, caution, but CA screws us in so many ways!

LaRue is hardly the only company with this policy, we have a lot of threads here with "fill in the blank" doing it too.

Use a Visa/MC or Amex gift card, then you can put any billing address you want because there is no billing address.

Exile Machine is the only name I remember, because they made a big deal about settling without giving up their customer list.

I think that lawsuit is one of the reasons they are no longer in business.

If you will be there a couple of months or more, see if your credit card company can change your billing address to WA for the time being.

Probably could do it online. I didn't think of it prior but I did after.

Exile machine! I couldn't remember the name, but that's the one I was thinking of.

If any local shops had them in stock,Cabelas, Bass pro, Ranier Arms, I'd walk in and buy them. We'll see if midway ships them. If not then gift Amex or address change!

Easy. Call the company and ask to add a billing address. I added a PO Box address because some vendors will ship only to the billing address.

Just got a "your order has shipped" message from Midway. Paid a couple of bucks more for each mag but also got free shipping. I'll have to remember the above recommendations for future purchases. Living here is a very little taste of freedom and CA still strangling me and keeping me from fully enjoying it! Thanks for the input and listening to my griping.
