First time shooting 458 socom is one I’ll remember for a while

Big noise, big recoil (compared to 223) and big grin on my face!!

Your thread title reminds me of this:

For me it was shooting a select fire AKM. It was in an AK build class Rifle Dynamics used to host. On the last day, we took our build rifles to test and to zero and we got to try some cool guns AK Rifle Dynamics had. The host Jim Fuller brings out his full auto AK105, Suchka, PKM, and Skorpion VZ61 to shoot and the ammo was free for the students!

Alas, transferable select fire AKs were never affordable anyway and getting an FFL/SOT was not worth it for me.

Two friends and I purchased some shotgun ammo at Sport Chalet in Glendale.
I told them I've never driven on freeway before. They said we'll spot you. Every time they said "Go!" I changed a lane!

We drove on the 2 freeway to Angeles forest and found a free public shooting area with berms. We took out two shotguns, loaded them and got ready. I still remembered a girl and her dad were picking up brass or something at the opening of the our berm. We scared the crap out of them when we started firing toward the end of the berm.

We had no targets, no ear protection, and weren't shooting at anything specific at all.
          Boy, it was fun!!!

Three boys in high school with stolen shotguns! haha!

I bought and shot a lever gun for the first time this summer! It’s a Marlin 1894 CSBL and I love it. I love the blend of traditional and modern. I hit 2” groups @ 50 yards with a red dot sight the first time out. I really feel like this gun and I were made for each other.

That is a BRILLIANT story!!! Love it! Congrats on the score 500...brought a smile to my face....thank you.
Funny you should mention a Glock 34, I think I want one, too. Not even for competition but just as my go to straight shooting 9mm. Do you think that is a foolish want? Is it really too big to be the perfect pistol. I rented one at a range and was able to bullseye a a couple of rounds and the others were close. Are there other 9mm that are as accurate but smaller that I should try?

Sounds like wicked fun! Some day would like to have a full auto in my hands. Maybe a trip to a free state for the day is in the stars.

Went long distance shooting with my friend a couple months back. We hit out to 2.68 miles with a 300 Lapua Norma mag, used hand loads.

Suppressed bolt gun 300 bulk subsonic. No ear pro - you could hear the round hit the paper at 200 yds - such a delay.
