    help with my aim!

    All,
I went to the range in Sunnyvale today with my AR. I'm using iron sights, so nothing fancy. This is out to 25yards.

My aim seems to be off, everything is grouping up and to the right. (At least i'm consistent!) Any advice on how to correct this or what I'm doing wrong? At 25yards, I'd say I'm going up by about 4" and to the right by 4" or so as well.

I can "self correct" by aiming at "down and to the left" and then hitting the center of my target, but this is probably not the ideal way to shoot!

    Thanks!

If you have already adjusted the iron sights and it stays the same....It is you and not the rifle.

Sounds like it may be an improper cheek weld.....

Were the sights on the rifle ever zeroed to begin with?

What kind of sights to you have? Someone will come along and tell you how to zero them.

Did you sight in the rifle?

did your AR come with a manual, if not- use the world wide web and find out how to adjust your iron sights.

...and I sort of hate to say this, but if you ask what "zero" is along with what a cheek weld is...well. Never mind.

the rifle sounds fine.. I would say it's a case of user 'unfamiliarity'. Most people dont start out experts but hopefully if they dont understand what's going on, they read the manual or ask questions first.

Anyways, at 25 yards, if you're lining up the front post through the rear peep..its not going to be that far off..

sounds like you need to zero the rifle in for that distance.

Might I make a suggestion on a possible fix to this dilemma.

                          1) read the frakin' manual
                          2) follow the instructions in the manual on how to adjust your sights
                          3) get someone who knows how to sight in an AR to help you with it.
                          4) if that doesnt work, come back here and post up what's happening.

                          Good luck!

Sorry I'm not an expert. Probably part of the reason I'm here to seek advice from others. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

BTW, I didn't ask what "zero" was. Just what the term "cheek weld" was. Is that where your *** is so tight you can't **** and it only comes out of your mouth?
