    SWA travel with firearms update

I flew on Southwest monday to El Paso. When I checked in I was informed now firearms must be in hardsided case inside hardsided case unless in hardsided case designed to hold firearms. I convinced them my golf case was a case designed to hold multiple longguns. Now i have to find a hard case to put my o/u in inside my golf case.I am coming back friday. Shotgun ammo available here and .223 and 7.62x 39. UPDATE WENT TO ACADEMY AND PURCHASED HARD LONG GUN CASE. tTRIED TO FLY TONIGHT TSA CALLED ME BACK THIS CASE EVEN WITH 3 LOCKS CAN PRY OPEN TO GET HAND INSIDE SO I WAS DENIED. HAD TO STAY OVER AND I WENT TO BIG 5 AND GOT A STRONGER CASE. NOW WITH 4 LOCKS.

I like the idea of traveling with firearms in a low-profile case, but the SWA counter agent probably knew the policy and expected a gun case. As per their website:
Find answers to all of your travel and flight-related questions and view common FAQ articles regarding your travel experience when you fly with Southwest Airlines.

Firearms must be encased in a hard-sided, locked container that is of sufficient strength to withstand normal handling, as follows:

A firearm placed inside a hard-sided, locked suitcase must be encased in a hard-sided, locked container.
The locked container or suitcase must completely secure the firearm from access. Cases or suitcases that can be pulled open with minimal effort do not meet the locked criterion.

Get the apache case from harbor freight. I have flown it a dozen times all o we the US and have had zero issues.

TRy it with a dozen decoys and a lot of gear and waders. I use a golf case, but now an additional case within a case. I am going to academy sports to find a hard case my o/u lower can fit in to put inside my golf case.

          This is stupid.

So are you allowed to use your own locks on the outer hard case or only on in the inner hard case?

Since this is now so upgefuked I bought a rifle hardcase to put inside my golf case so i can bring my o/u home. I am putting my locks on the rifle hardcase inside my hard golf club case with tsa locks. This is so upgekufed. This is SNAFU. My golf club case now weighs 50 lbs. I am leaving my decoys and snivel gear here at ranch so I can bring a firearm home.

Another for HF, They have a lot of sizes now, they are in stock and very reasonably priced.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

Do not buy a cheap hard case.
