Help Needed With CA Gun Laws!

Hi everyone. I am new to the forum and was hoping that someone here may be able to help me with some California gun laws...

My brother lives in South Carolina and has a FN 509 Tactical with a threaded barrel and 25rd magazines that he was planning on bringing here to shoot with me when he comes to visit in the near future. Does anyone know if he would be able to fly to California with the gun in a hard sided and locked case? If not, are there any other ways to get it here that anyone may be familiar with?

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing your responses.

Don't bring it. See Handgun flowchart above. Threaded barrel on a non-maglocked pistol is no-no. >10 rounds magazine is also no-no.

As stated above. Don't bring it over to California. If I were you, I would instead visit him at free state for fun time at the range

As said above, the gun in that configuration here in CA is illegal. If he has that gun he surely has others that would not be illegal to bring instead...Also, do NOT bring magazines with over 10 rnd capacity into the state. That said, he can fly here with the gun as long as he complies with federal and airline regulations. The TSA and the airlines don't enforce CA gun laws. Once off the plane with it he would be committing several crimes.

Don't like it? Thank everyone you meet who has voted democrat in this state. Want to change it? Make sure you and everyone you know votes republican and maybe some day...

                (4) A semiautomatic pistol that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of the following:
                (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
                (B) A second handgrip.
                (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning the bearer’s hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
                (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.
                CA Penal Code 30605.

                (b) Notwithstanding subdivision (a), a first violation of these provisions is punishable by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500) if the person was found in possession of no more than two firearms in compliance with Section 30945 and the person meets all of the following conditions:
For magazines >10 rounds: CA Penal Code 32310
32310. (a) Except as provided in Article 2 (commencing with Section 32400) of this chapter and in Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 17700) of Division 2 of Title 2, any person in this state who manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, buys, or receives any large-capacity magazine is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170.
It’s either a one-year misdemeanor or a multi-year felony for each issue. And, they’ll take the gun and mags and ammo.
