Why do people say Like New when the gun has been fired

I don’t get why people post like new for a gun that’s been fired? My understanding is like new is a gun that hasn’t been fired and or basically straight from the factory and not fired after. Some people post only 500 rounds still like new. Why can’t you post used in great condition? To me it’s like saying you have a like new car that’s been driven 20k miles, or a like new t shirt that’s been worn 3 times. I don’t get it.

    Thoughts on this?

    Sounds better than "used".

A gun that has never been fired except from the factory is called BNIB. Like new is not the word for that. Like new, is if there are no noticeable blemishes and very little blemish inside the gun.

That's called new. Notice the word "like" new and not just "new." Just assume like new is "used like new."

Of course is makes sense. It's "like" new. Not new or BNIB. It's like new. No blemishes, etc. Perfectly sensible to me.

Oh, and many guns brand new from the factory have at least one round down the pipe just to check it.

Do you also expect your "new" cars to have 0 miles on the ODO? 3 miles. That's used.

Still doesn’t make sense, because there will be noticeable wear on the gun when it’s fired. Where do we draw the line with like new, 200 rounds fired, 300 rounds fired, 500 rounds fired, I mean come on here.

Because if it has a low enough round count even the factory sometimes puts rounds through it before you get it.

Just like a lot of firearms are test fired before leaving the factory. You obviously can’t do anything about that. come on man 200,300,400,500,600 rounds fired. Where are we drawing the line? Don’t see a reasonable logic here. It seems like an endless number. Lol

New guns have normally been test fired.
