DROSed but can’t pick up!

The system has been overwhelmed for a while but had been cleaning up a bit but don’t be surprised if you have to wait a few more days.Originally posted by Kestryll:

That’s been happening for MONTHS. At one time it was over 20 days, due to back ups with DOJ (supposedly).
It slowly came down....18, 16, 14, 12, 11 days....more normal now, in general.

Could also be that THEY are running on appointments only and behind, and calling people in order for pick-up. Being that the NICS/DROS systems have both caught up in the last month to 10-day status, I'm betting the former is the more likely story.
Many stores are simply not able to keep up with the time it takes to handle the number of purchases on a one-by-one appointment only handling basis as the State and Counties have required (particularly as new buyers take longer due to their lack of familiarity with the buying process in CA, and often no having the right documents, their FSC, and/or needing explanation for every part of the process.)-----------------------------------------------

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?Comment

I heard there was a DRO's delay from all the new purchases, but I literally picked up my new rifle 10 minutes after the full 10-day wait time without issue.
Maybe the Gun Club is overwhelmed with all the new transactions?Originally posted by FrozenguyOk Karen, it's Friday. Look forward to your weekend and relax!

it happens.
my last purchase was cleared on the 12th day. my neighbor's didnt get any delay.
i dros-ed a rifle last Friday, the FFL told me "about 12 days".Comment

The system us electronic, it doesn't take 10 days to do the background check, probably takes seconds. The 10-day hold period is for "cooling off"
I call BS
IMO They probably have so many transfers they can't manage the volume so you're being pushed out.
I've purchased 4 firearms and sold 1 in the past 4 months. All have been ready for pick up in 10-11 days because I've used FFLs I have a good relationship with. Just my 2 cents.Comment

It's been so long they thought everyone knew. I call before going to pick up, the LGS that answers phones is worth your business.Comment

Happens all the time these days. Just give them a few more days and pick it up later.Comment

I picked up a gun today, exactly 10 days after drosing.WTB 3rd Gen SW also looking for a 22 pistol with 6" bbl or longerComment

If they don't give you crap for doing so. I had an LGS 2 months ago tell me that they had a 14 day policy, to not bother calling until the 13th day.Comment

I had bought 4 guns in the last 60 days and only the DROS for the 1st out of the 4 took 13 days. I was able to pick up the 3 after 10 days.Comment
