For those who evacuated... how did you handle 2a?

Family ready... suitcase for each one ready. Important docs ready. for 2A, i figure throw all the pistols in the range bag. unloaded. i do have a hard case that can fit 5. the featureless can go to a soft case (lockable). problem is those i broke apart.

I'm playing the waiting game; some i don't want to make feature less because there's no solution w/o drilling thru the stock to prevent collapsible (hence disassembled). throw all lowers into another bag (lockable) and just wrap the uppers blanket( ghetto but eh)? i figure throw the ammo in to the safe after for some fire protection or burglary.

Not well at all. I could have lost $40k in guns with some irreplacable. Will do better if it happens again.

it didn't dawn to me to use the ol' samsonite hardside suitcase! it's locked. vs. multiple bags.

This is why you have a gun insurance policy. Take the family heirlooms and whatever you need to defend the family. The rest can be replaced.

If you don't have a policy I would get on the phone with Eastern or Collect Insur and see if you can give them a credit card over the phone.

I would vote against ammo in a safe. It will not hurt anyone if it is on fire but may pressurize the safe into a bomb.

Last time I had to evacuate (for a fire at the time) I just got as many blankets as I could and rolled the long guns up in them and put them in the trunk of the car. Handguns ended up in a range bag or ammo can inside soft cases. Only ammo I took was a couple boxes of 9mm and .223 for the firearms I was expecting to use if self-defense was necessary. Honestly could care less about the rest of the ammo at that point because if the fire gets there I definitely wont be worried about burglars getting to it before the flames do.

Then again I was lucky I had a house to myself at the time and I could fit both suitcases of clothes/pertinant documents/laptop and medical pack in the shotgun seat.

To answer the OP: For-tay under the drivers seat, cocked, locked, and glocked. Rifle, shotgun, and 9mm in the back locked up, with a bag full of SHTF ammo in mags.

It’s very hard when you need to decide which guns you’ll take with you. It’s like choosing which child you’re keeping and which ones go for adoption. For me, the most reliable ones for which I have enough ammo for.

Class guns with wear marks trump the safe queens.
Rifle Dynamics AK74 for reliability, Larue PredatOBR for ammo commonality, Shadow 2 for side arm, Sig P365 for concealed carry.

But I’d rather stay and fight.

i only have 45-60 of fire protection for the safe in case of a fire. Looters... it's also possible. I assume for the worst.

i had to find this since a new to 2A co-worker of mine was curious also. It was actually shared here way back then so glad it wasn't that hard to find in youtube.

there was a recent incident in our area.. attempted carnapping. couple seem to be in state of shock posting on nextdoor sunset. oddly local PD says it's happened but this is the first I've seen. that Fortay would've been handy since the perp was approaching them with a gun. they state they were saved by other incoming cars that steered the perp away.

The glock 22 should fit that bill. (my hd choice today at home).
