Full Auto in Vegas = too cool!

Went to Vegas w/ my gf and her parents (whats up Tom if you read this )

Always wanted to go shoot full auto but have never had the time til now.

After all the bad stories I had heard about this place, I figured i'd regret it, but I didnt think it was "too crowded" but they do seem to be making $$$ hand over fist there.

Very friendly staff btw!

I never had a problem when I went there. I fired the M1A1 Thompson, MP40, and the M16. The M16 was really cool, but I fell in love with the MP40. So easy to control and so smooth. Not a lot of room for the supporting hand though.

How'd you like the MP5? My cousin has one in AZ and that thing is loads of fun.

I only shot the M3 that was great, but the gf shot the mp5 and loved it, ive shot an HK94 before so I didnt want to waste $50 on it.

There is a store called the Shooters Shack that deals with FA class III firearms in Las Vegas. Be sure to attend the Soldier of Fortune convention there too; because they'll be shooting the heavy machineguns just outside of the city limits too...

The last 2 times I went to Vegas, I never stopped at a range or store. Looks like I know where I am heading to get a break form the Cali gun laws. Until then, we make the best of what we can until we can start changing things around here.

It was ok when I went. The Barrel on the M16 was shot and totally inaccurate.

The best part was the cool shirt they gave me that says "I don't call 911"

It was worth going for me too...loved the mp5. Very easy to control. The only problem i had was that you could tell the staff is used to dealing with dipsticks from all over the world and act accoringly...kinda like your a kid or something...maybe i caught them on a bad day....but it was worth the $50 i spent for 2 1/2 magazines (50rds). I can say i did it now, which most Ca folks cant say...

Not just that but they don't want anyone ruining their range or the preciouis pre-bans. They turn the targets upside down so you aren't tempted to shoot the ceiling and they reload it for you so you don't break it.

I was at semi auto range in Hawaii renting a MP5 clone and a HK USC. Once the rangemaster realized I was no stranger to guns he let me do whatever I wanted and went off to help a Japanese couple who no doubt had never seen a gun in person and didn't even speak english.

what are the rates like? Is it different per gun or is it more based on ammo cost?

Last time I shot there a couple years ago, 9mm was $40 and .45 was $50, for 50 rounds.
I usually shoot 100 rounds.
MP5-SD, Thompson M1, Uzi, MP-40 so far.
Next to shoot will be the Sten, I think.

The staff can be very nervous until they figure out you are safe with guns. Last time I was there the staff guy ran the target out about 15 feet from the stall and was tensely waiting and ready to grab the gun from my hands if my first shots were out of control.
I looked at him, grinned, hit the switch and ran the target out to 50 feet and proceeded to play with 3 round bursts. The staffer relaxed and even let me change my own magazines. I did save the last mag for full clip spray, I warned him I was going to do that first, so all was OK.

Is that the Gun Store in Vegas? I was there on Sunday.

They suck explaining things on the phone about their prices.

Basically:

They ONLY allow their own frangible ammunition to be used.

50 rounds of .45 cost $32 bucks.
10 rounds of 7.62x39 cost $20.

To shoot AK47 full auto with 25 rounds costs $50.

You can't just rent a full auto and buy their ammunition. Everything is in packages. They suck at explaining all of this by the way.

Some of the staff were great. They'll talk down to you and baby you unless they find out you know a bit about firearms and have pro-gun opinions about currently laws and politicians. Then they're awesome to deal with.

Have a buddy in Nevada who has NFA stamps for a Tommy gun, m16, and MG43. brings a tear to my eye.

probably the gun you fired was loose-bore, too many rounds went thru the barrel already.
