    July gun sales

    According to FBI data, July is the 5th consecutive month for record number of NICS checks. July is also the 3rd highest month since the FBI began keeping records. There were over 3.6 million NICS checks in July.

    However, there were 1,795,602 gun sales in July.

    Will someone please explain the discrepancy between number of NICS checks and gun sales?

    Statistics represent the number of firearms background checks initiated through the NICS from November 1998 to March 31, 2026.

      Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
      I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

                I believe that gun sales number is for new guns, not used/transfers.

                  There is one state that runs a NICS check on every CCW permit holder every month.
