It is the new normal, get there early and hurry up and wait or get there late and go right in.

This is pretty much how everything is in SoCal. Want to go play in the snow? Get there by 8am even though it's freezing. Want to get a parking spot at a beach? Get there early.

      This place is crowded.

Also there's a lot of new gun owners out shooting.

It was like that before Covid.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Weekends were always busy for almost every activity whether it's golfing, shopping or shooting even before this year. But really for me, the worst part about this covid thing are the lines and waiting. Really miss those days when you can just walk in and out in 5 mins on weekdays.

Try Wednesday night at the Angeles Shooting Range. They're open until 9pm on Wednesday and it wasn't that crowded couple of weeks ago when I went.

I go to an outdoor free range. A month ago it was more packed and it would be filled by 7a. I have a feeling that now, we have a bunch of people testing new buys to see if they work and people who are stacked with ammo for years. With prices the way they are, a lot are just not "wasting" ammo anymore or just can't afford it. 2 weeks ago I had the range to myself for 2 hours from 6a to 8a. This is a sample of one range, one day a week at a time so maybe it's just coincidence, we'll see. I'm seeing a lot less brass on the ground also, the scrappers are out all the time and most shooters are reloaders who pick up.

This is one of the reasons I left So Cal in 1985.

                  Too many people.
Just taking up space in (what is no longer) the second-worst small town in California.

I only go on weekdays as well, and during the early afternoon. Seems to be more empty then, and I haven’t had to wait at all. I am a little worried about how many new shooters who don’t seem to know any basic safety rules, however.

Time to buy open land in Lancaster or Palmdale area and open new outdoor shooting range

Haven't shot at a public range in 12 years. Couldn't/Can't stand it. I suppose I have the luxury of relatively close land to shoot on.

I just go up behind the house and shoot.

Angeles yesterday was crowded, you couldn't just walk up and get a spot on the rifle side, but the wait wasn't terrible for a Sunday.
