G17 magazine fits in G26 question

A question for the season Glock enthusiasts and community as a whole.

I'm new to the glock platform as I'm pretty much a Sig guy but I don't mind having a plethora of platforms at my disposal.

So I recently acquired g26 and I also owned g17 as well. Both are chambered in 9mm. I was comparing the two and I notice that the g17 magazine fits in the g26 as well. But not vice versa for the obvious reason that the g26 magazine is too short. However the g17 magazine attaches and releases normally in the g26.

Does this mean that one can used the g17 magazine in a g26?

Second, is this true for the Glock in general as a platform given the same rounds chambered?

    By contrast, Sig doesn't do that. You cannot use a p220 in a p226 or p226 in a p229.

I just want to be sure before testing it out at the range.

    Thank you all!

Yes, G26 will accept and function with any Glock 9mm double stack magazine.

Yes your G17 magazine will work in G19 and G26. They make adapters that slide onto the magazine that close the gap between the grip and the bottom of the magazine.

The P220 is 45ACP so it will not work in the P226/P229. But the P226 magazines will work in the P229 as well.

You can use the g19, g17, 33 round stick mag, 27 round stick mag, drum mag, all in your G26.

Yes, it sure does. You can use G17 or G19 mags in your G26. You can even use the 10/33 mags in your G26.

This is true for Glock in general.

Glocks will take the larger model of the same platform and function normally.

G19 and G17 mags work in G26, and G17 will work in G19.

Same with the .40 line, G27 is the subcompact, it will take the compact and full size mags, etc.

Yes you can use P226 mags in a P229 or P224. And plenty of us have factory Glock 33rd mags for use in the G26/G19/G17/G34, legally (for now). You missed Freedom Week by a year.

I regularly carry a g26 with a Glock 17 mag and x grip as my main carry gun

X grips are great for getting rid of mag wobble, and just making the grip in general more sturdy

But yes, that's how most Glocks are... The double stack 9 mags can all be used in the various double stack 9 guns so long as the magwell can accommodate of course. Same with the 40s, 45s, etc.

Well other than the fact the P220 is a single stack and the other two are double stacks, there is no reason why a P226 mag can not be used in a P229 of the same caliber. Some of us have been doing it for decades.
