    Trigger Tryout

    Hey guys!

I've been looking into replacing the mil spec trigger in my AR-15. I've gone down the research rabbit hole and have found many that I'm interested in. However, you can't go on Internet information and videos alone. Nothing will beat in hand feel. So my question is if anyone knows how, or where to "Test drive" triggers. Every time I see any trigger in a store, they're packaged up. I can't imagine there's a return policy once opened and potentially fired. So how does one go about testing and trying out different triggers so you don't go wasting tons of money trying to find a trigger that actually feels right for you?

    Thanks in advance!!

Depending on where you are someone might be willing to let you try out their setup. Lots of variables, though.

Do you have a list of your top choices?

No guarantees that it will work, but it's worth asking around.

      This is all you need.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

I'll let you in on a little known secret. If you combine an ALG Defense ACT trigger with the JP reduced power trigger spring kit, you'll have an amazingly crisp, light and reliable trigger, all for well under $100. I have that combo in one of my rifles and about to drop it in another, and going forward I don't see the need to spend any more on a higher price trigger. There's absolutely no take up and pull weight is around 4 pounds. I'd give the combo a try and see if you like it.

For comparison, I do own several Geissele triggers. They are very good, but for the money, the ALG with JP springs hands down.

Buy a RRA National Match Trigger from Primary Arms for $89 or spend a little bit more and buy once and cry once and buy a Giessle.

Buy a single stage trigger with a pull weight you're familiar with. It'll be easier to get on.

Over thinking triggers is a problem. You can get used to anything with enough practice.

Most of us can't tell the difference between a 4# or 6# single stage unless we look at the specs on the package.

Riflegear has a whole mess of AR-15 triggers in strike industries jigs that you can dry fire. That’s obviously not super convenient from Sylmar, but you could try calling local shops to see if they have something similar.

Some gun stores have a bunch of trigger samples to try from. Sacramento Black rifle had a set a while back, the last time I was there.

Larue MBT and it comes with an extra spring.

This is their 2 stage trigger, very similar to a Geissele SSA.

I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...
