Why not just buy another stripped lower and build it out as featureless? It might cost a little more, but it would be much less of a headache. Just my 2 cents.

I too registered because the sky was falling. Only real benefit was I was able to get my home brew ar15 pistols registered as semi-auto. Not being able to lend or let minor age friends and family shoot them sucks.

Mag-lock and unregister is the plan now.

Ahh sorry to disappoint, life got the best of me and my letter is still hanging out on my desk. I need to seal it up and get it sent out...soon hopefully.

the lower is the only serialized part, which is the actual AW. Once it is de-registered there is no way to get a full featured rifle again. You cant go back and forth between registered AW and featureless.

Lowers are cheap, approx $80-150 depending on brand. Its much easier to swap the lower out and put the registered one in the safe, for a rainy day. If they do come for featureless rifles next in some registration scheme, id rather have a full featured rifle thats been registered, than having a featureless one that must now be registered. better to have one of each and hedge your bets. thats what i'd do anyways...

It's good to have at least one registered lower just in case. As others have said, just get another lower and do a new build or vamp the parts from your AW.

I'm contemplating deregister my PTR-91 since it already has fixed stock; I just need to remove flash hider and add fin grip.
