Flip up Magpul sight. If you're using an aimpoint, I think youd might as well just leave irons as backups

Either of the A2 rear sights, because the elevation drum is a brilliant and easy to use design, and it's originally calibrated for the 20" barrel and sight radius anyway.

Plus the small and large aperture are easy to flip back and forth, even with a gloved hand, unlike the Magpul, which is fiddly and requires a fingernail to pick at the little tab.

The thumb screw on the original A2 sight is also simple and effective, and the sight can be put on and off in seconds without tools.

Magpul MBUS if you're planning on focusing on the red dot most of the time.

Any of the fixed sights may be better if you have astigmatism and need the rear sight aperture to focus on that dot to keep it from getting too blurry.

If red dot is lower 1/3, then go fixed, preferably DD, that way if your dot goes down, you can just lower your head a bit to pick up the irons which are already up. If red dot is absolute cowitness then go Magpul, that way if your dot goes down, then you just flip it up.

              Troy hk fixed front(almost always)
Rear sights I go between magpul pro and larue.
              Best sight picture.
              Cowitness does suck.

Personally the slimline A2 - the less moving parts the better.

For back ups I favor Matech for rear and GG&G a2 flip up fronts. It's what I've gotten used to and adjustments on the fly are KISS.

I experience very little ballistic difference out to or @400 yards shooting 193/855 or equivalent loads.

Full disclosure, all the carbines mount an ACOG ta11/ta33's and a lone M4 aimpoint.

                            as a backup, folding.

                            Primary, the DD fixed.
