That article literally proves that Zelle is as good as cash. Any scam that can be done with Cash can be done with Zelle. 'Dumb people get scammed' should be the headline for that article - it's a tale as old as time.

I've sold a few items. I think the most was $1000 for some pistols. I'm thinking of selling some rifles in the $2500-$3300 range and was going to list payment of either cash or zelle. I've sent/received funds using zelle and had 0 issues so far. Then again, it was with people I know & trust so fraud was never an issue.

Since zelle comes straight from your account, for the seller, it should be just as good as cash. I don't think a buyer can send funds and then undo it after the fact.
Too many rifles, not enough time...

You're exactly right. The only one taking any risk is the buyer. So be sure you know who you're buying from.

Ah, so it is. I should have read your post more carefully.

Not really related... but interesting... I was at a convenience store i frequent often . . . the clerk at the counter was looking curiously at 4 'silver dollars' the old full size ones. He's not from this country and hadn't seen this form of currency. So I gave him 4-dollars for them and went home. Called my neighbor who collects coins and he came over. He initially almost jumped out of his boots when he saw one of them (i forgot what coin it was supposed to be) he pulled out a book and looked it up . . . it was an odd number. Out came the magnet . . . sure enough 'CLANK' it was a fake.
He was blown away how realistic it looked, (and was embarrassed he didn't hit it with the magnet first) LOL
But I was surprised at the length someone went to mint a fake coin. He said it's super common in China. Anyways . . . sorry for the off-topic detour.

                  My credit union uses venmo.

                  Any opinions on that?
I use it regularly for transfers, bills, payments, etc. no charge and fast.

We don’t talk politics so no idea of their position.

                    Venmo is owned by Paypal.

Paypal has their claws dug in deep. Though I knew this, I didn't expect so much push-back on the issue.

I think the bottom line is, as mentioned above, most institutions are anti-2A. Zelle is just the lesser of two evils, in my opinion. For sales in the marketplace, its a bulletproof option - and that was the reason for my post. For other transactions, maybe just give it a try sometime.

... But if you're making the payment, make sure you know the seller/recipient is legit.

I was looking at it from a seller's perspective in case a buyer didn't want to carry around $2500-$3300 in cash.
