I personally find the ALS rig to be faster than the G Code hood. Not a ton faster but faster. YMMV. But...you don't have to reset the ALS like you do the hood. Throw the gun in the ALS holster and it's retained. It's not a huge deal and maybe it's just me. But I get tired of having to constantly reset the hood in longer range sessions. Again, YMMV on this.

Oh, and I like the contact pad of the ALS with the OTD Nub Mod better than the button on the G Code. It's a very small difference and I'm picking nits but I like it better.

Ha ha, yeah I went through the same thing awhile back. Got really frustrated trying to figure out exactly what I needed, I wanted it for Glock and 1911.

I ended up just setting up a duty/battle belt for both, both belts are almost exactly the same (only one more mag holder on the 1911belt) I have the 7378 holster for the 1911 and the 6360 for the Glock, both on the mid ride belt loop.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

Find a 6354DO as a full rig, order the QLS, order the NUB MOD if you want. Done.

Any other holsters, just order the "Concealment" versions with ALS only and you'll get basically the belt loop or clip type vs the "duty" drop panel which costs a lot more. Install the QLS male to that holster and swap as needed.

You won't be able to CCW this. The two systems are different and each type of carry is specialized.

For mag carriers, use Esstac or HSGI. Since you fluctuate between single to double stack, HSGI might be best but I favor Esstac.

For belt, look at Blue Alpha Gear. You have the option to go with or without MOLLE webbing. Order your mag carriers based on this. Of course, this is an inner/outer system. If you want a throw on/over the clothes type, then the HSGI slim grip system is your best bet.

It's not complicated, but you need to plan ahead to avoid spending thousands on holsters and equipment.

What's the deal with Safariland's belt loops pretty much only coming in 2" or 2.25"? I found one belt loop made for a smaller belt on Amazon but it isn't even mentioned on the Safariland site. Do people just put the 2" belt loops on their smaller belts?

Yes. And run a couple zipties to keep them snug on belt. Pretty common.

I also did belts for Glocks and a 1911. Much easier to grab n go without having to be too esoteric with mag pouch choices or compatibility issues down the road. Set it and forget it.

I don't do any gaming but I always choose function over form. Got good stiff belts and good holsters and filled in the gaps with mag pouches to balance the load.

              Ultra KISS.

*A shooting buddy turned me on to scuba weight belts for his pistol belt. It works really well. Tough as nails and very stiff. Stinking cheap too.

They're designed for "duty" belts which are generally 2 or 2.25 inches.

Yes, folks just throw them on. If your belt is stiff, it won't budge. Coupled with a leg strap and you're solid. You just have to determine if you prefer the mid or low ride depending on your body type.

You could use a drop leg should be it will require modification to the mounting system to be the correct height. They're generally sized down to your knee caps. It's always cringey to see someone with a drop leg because of this.

I've experimented with a lot of these setups and intend to consolidate to one or 2 sets of inner/outers and 1 set of "over the clothes".

                Top to bottom:
***The same Safariland 7TS ALS holster is used, but I prefer the 6354 DO now that I almost all of my pistols have MRDS's on them.

Gray - HSGI 1.75" inner/outer belt, Safariland mid-ride, Esstac mag pouches, Emdom pouches used for accessories.

Multicam - HSGI Slimgrip "over the clothes" MOLLE belt with 1.5" inner belt, Safariland mid-ride, Esstac mag pouches, HSGI pistol tacos used for accessories.

Coyote - HSGI standard "over the clothes" 3 panel MOLLE belt with 2" inner "duty" belt, Safariland low-ride, Esstac mag pouches, HSGI pistol tacos used for accessories.

Multicam Black - Safariland 2" "over the clothes" MOLLE belt, Safariland single strap drop leg shroud with custom articulating QD belt attachment, Esstac mag pouches, HSGI pistol tacos used for accessories.

Ya mean belts made of Scuba webbing?

They are extremely common & popular. Not sure I'd call them "cheap" since most of them retail for at least $50-60, but yeah; very common and AWSOME.

I just got an Ares ranger belt (scuba webbing) and I think a Blue Alpha Gear, also scuba webbing.
                  They are awesome belts.

My primary EDC belt is & has been for years a Wilderness Instructor with polymer reinforcement.

                  LOVE that one too.

Interesting....well, like I said; primarily because I was frustrated & annoyed with how arcane Safariland makes their products, I went with G-Code....also it was your recommendation.

The photo below also reinforces my view that the RTI system seems quite a bit slimmer than SL's QLS.....which is nice.

Either way, I'll try out the GCode & go from there...hopefully I won't need to get rid of it in favor of SL, but who knows.....

Or, why not try one of RHT retention holsters and have it the holes drilled for a long QLS?

My setup for my G34 and G21SF on my battlebelt is mid-ride belt loop with a QLS (so I can switch)

Holster is Level 1 ALS (with a WML-fit). It is a smooth draw - as I push in my hand for the grip the thumb intuitively (the thumb pushes forward/down) defeats the retention. The hood is non-invasive.

                    _

                    What's RHT?

And no; didn't think to try CopQuest. I'll check out their site just in case I need SL gear instead of the GCode I just bought.

So your photo reinforces what I read that GCODES RTI system seems quite a bit slimmer than SL's QLS..... I really do NOT think I could CCW a SL Paddle with QLS....hopefully I could with GCode, but it won't be a deal breaker; it would just be icing on the cake. I already have some pretty good CCW holsters I'm happy with overall.

I was just thinking since I NEED war belt stuff, it would be nice to get a flexible system like GCODE / QLS.

But you like your ALS? That's Safariland, right?

Yes, I like my ALS. It is from Safarliand, 6390. (BTW, my magazine pouches on my battlebelt are from GCODE)

I am fine with the offset, actually NEEDED the offset, because in one tactical class I found out that if I am wearing armor (SHTF, etc.), I cannot get a quick and consistent draw. I needed to push the gun outwards.

BTW, since I was dry practicing - took a video myself with the ALS holster. About 0.9-par to a sight picture at 10-yards...

Not bad really... The hood, too, is non-invasive.

Thanks! Never heard of RHT....will check 'em out.

Regarding the offset; what I mean is this:

Actually, now that I think about it, I guess I'm going after 2 diametrically opposed things...... :-/

When you are trying to CCW, you want the gun as tight as possible to your body and the overall package to be slim.

When you are wearing a war belt, you want the gun to be offset from your body / NOT tight to your waist so that you can draw around armor / plate carrier.

What I was thinking I might be able to accomplish here is to buy a system that might fill both roles.

                              I bought this:

To mount onto my war belt.

                              I bought this:

                              For EDC.

I am hoping, if GCODE's RTI system works out the way I want, that I can swap guns & holsters between my war belt and EDC / CCW system.

I know that the RTI / QLS system by its nature - the actual hunks of polymer that do the quick release connecting - add thickness to a holster.

This is a disadvantage for CCW, but an Advantage for war gear.

It's also somewhat moot since I bought that mid-ride / drop belt slide, which should lower the ride of the gun to clear my armor.

                              I'm hoping.....if it doesn't, return city here I come.

                              Does that make sense?
