    Status of Riflegear?

I just impulsively bought a SKS from PSA and some ammo from Ammunition Depot to be shipped to Riflegear for the transfers. Just read their policy about appointments. Currently, are they accepting transfers? Will they accept my SKS and ammo? Both the SKS and ammo have already shipped...

Umm, you had a rifle and ammo shipped to some dealer without checking with that dealer?? Risky business.

Second thought, if the dealer you bought the rifle from has rifle gear listed on their site, you should be ok. Just make an appointment.

You think of emailing riflegear ?
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Should have called or checked first.

        Temporary Suspension of Ship-In Transfers
We are temporarily suspending our service of performing Firearm Transfers as of 3/22/2020. We are simply maxed out on our capacity and cannot accept any additional transfers at this time. Please do not ship any more transfer firearms to our retail stores until further notice. We will perform the transfer for any firearm we have received prior to 3/22/2020, however you will still need to sign-in to the waiting list in order to get a place in line.

I think there’s a user here who works for Rifle Gear. Search and ask?

Why come here and ask instead of asking Riflegear?
Too many rifles, not enough time...

                They pick up phone calls.

They will likely accept the appointment, but forget about getting one on a weekend for that sort of transaction.

Called them and they said they are not accepting transfers, but if its already in transit they would make an exception. Once it gets there they will call me to setup an appointment, so I should be good. Im still confused though because why would they not "accept" any transfers as their inventory is 99% gone...

They did you a courtesy, you got lucky. Always call before you do a transfer, even during normal times.

Their webpage says “maxed out on capacity”. I read that as being their safes are full because of high demand and firearms not being released in the usual 10 days and/or their staff can’t keep up with the customers and online orders. DROS seems to be back at 10 days, so maybe Rifle Gear is getting caught up.

The problem is not because of inventory.
All the new gun buyers think they can buy any pistol and ship to CA. And don't understand semi auto rifles have or should be in CA compliance before shipping to CA.
Most FFLs are having the same problem.
Also the DROS delays are causing problems.
PPTs. Too many people getting denied.

That shows that Riflegear is a class act and good people. They are bending over backwards to help you out.
                            They don't have to.
Maybe you should start a thread about how great they are so it shows up on a search instead of this one.
