How much for the 629 DX?
Dude... don't sell the thing! And if ya do, sell it to ME!
Oh yeah... snubs are accurate but require a LOT more practice because of their short sight radius. Lots more blast
in a magnum snubby, too."He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

I don’t see an advantage with using a snubby for home defense unless one is carrying it in the house all the time. If that is not the case, it would be better to go with a 4” barrel for better accuracy and control.
As others have stated above I, too, prefer a .357 loaded with 38s (or +p) but would add a speed loader if .357 handy if necessary.Comment

IMO .44 mag in a snub isn't going to be much fun to shoot. Get a longer barrel or go .357/.38.
But hey, you might big a BIG dude who handles .44mag recoil out of a snub no problem.Originally posted by johnthomas...The hardest part getting rid of crap is getting started.Comment

What about .44spl in a snub for home defense? Still risk over penetration?Comment

I shot my neighbors Ruger SP 101 in .357 once . . . I put it down after 3 rounds. He said, "There's still 2 more" . . . I replied, "I'm good". Lol.Comment

it's the shooter
My buddy has a ported 3" Smith in .44 magnum. Very hard to shoot and groups at 15 yards are all over the place.
We ran into an old friend of his who was a competitive shooter who admired the gun and asked to shoot.
He put all six into the bull.
To this day, I realized I'm but a novice shooting handguns.Comment

.357 recoil is childs play... My first pistol was a Dan Wesson M15 .357 with the removable barrel... I thought it was a tiny round and sold it ASAP for a .44. But I did shoot the .357 without hearing protection ONCE.... that f*cking hurt... makes me wonder how all the cowboys from the west would practice shooting hundreds of rounds...
.44mag recoil is just on the brink of being manageable... and I shoot out of an 8" barrelComment

Looks cool in the movies, but has no real world benefit that I can see.
Stumping a 44 mag never helps accuracy or provides better ballistic performance, so why would you want that.
If a guy wants to buy one then have at it. No need to justify it here. BUY!
Our economy needs help and so do American gun manufacturers.Comment

Why would you feel a "snub" nose is a good home defense handgun? No need to conceal a home defense weapon. Minimum 4 inch and even better a 6 inch barrel for a home defense handgun. As far as caliber, go ahead and get a .44 magnum, but for home use, load it with a quality .44 special round.Comment
