First time flying with my gun

Put the ammo in a retail box, it doesn’t need to be in a locked container.
I’ve never had to say anything more than “I need to declare”.
Don’t let the agent talk you into putting the “unloaded” declaration card into the locked container. Politely ask for a manager or TSA supervisor.
I’ve flown in and out of New Orleans a few times now via AA and it’s pretty mundane. No extra steps. When waiting for your bag at the airline’s baggage office try to keep an eye on the carousel as I’ve had my red tagged bag end up there.Comment

Every time I've flown it has been a non-event. I did have a United person at John Wayne ask for me to show the weapon was unloaded. I refused and asked for a TSA person. No way did I want to remove the weapon from its case while at the counter. TSA came over, said not needed, and that was that. This is the only time that ever happened.Comment

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment

I bought a Pelican case. It's a hard case and lets you lock up all your stuff with non-TSA locks since a gun is in it. https://www.buycasesforless.com/p-12...SABEgIAe_D_BwEComment
