Alquist Arms. I have had good experiences with them. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. Be sure to call first.

        Bilsons is better than Alquist.
A short drive away, Sierra Arms is better than both.

That's good intel to have. I'll certainly keep that in mind.

Anyone know what Sierra Arms charges for out of state family transfer ? Their voicemail says they won't answer their phone due to high traffic.

I just looked up my receipt from Sierra from April 2019 when my Dad sent me a weapon

                    Total of $95.00

                    The line items were:
                    SHIPPING FEES: $65.00
                    DROS: $25.00
                    DROS DEALER FEE $5.00

                    Good place - would recommend

                        Alquist is the best.

Bilsons was not great last time I was there although it's been a few years. They tried to charge an extra $10 for the ppt, had to challenge then on it but they did remove the charge. Also paperwork took a very long time.

Thanks GlassJax. I called Bilsons and they said they won't do it and referred me to Sierra.

                            No problem!

Go to the shop and talk with them.

The gun has to come from an FFL and they need to exchange licenses before the other place ships. Get your Dad (or whoever the relative is) to get a letter that states his relationship to you, that the gun is a gift (model and SN#) and a photo copy of his ID. There are examples of the letter in the FFL form here in CalGuns.

It took my Dad’s FFL about a month to get everything in place.

It’s a pain in the butt, but worth it for an off roster weapon.
