    $100 FFL transfer fee?

I just bought a rifle via GB and during checkout, my usual FFL (Addax Tactical) wasn't listed so I went with another shop. On GB, the fee for a rifle transfer was $50 for said shop.

Today, I called the shop I designated during checkout to make sure they'd be able to facilitate this transfer and was told it was $100, not $50, plus $42 for DROS.

I think most I've paid in the past was $65 and as far as I know, Addax still charges $65 (info on website might be outdated).

Is $100 the new norm? Seems high to me, but I haven't bought in a while, only sold a few in 2020.
Too many rifles, not enough time...

Because of the craziness most shops are charging more. We are $125. We are doing so many PPTs its crazy. Over half the guns that come in, have no paperwork or are missing paperwork or they are not on Roster and they sit for a week before someone finally calls about it and they are not Roster exempt. Some shops are only charging $50 or so. Just call around.
Best Collateral Pawn in SSF, we are doing PPTs by appointment. Call 650 589 4433, ask for Rowland or Ron

Most I was charged up here in the North Bay was $135 for a transfer. Lowest was $35.

Always hard to pinpoint the "norm" on these things. I knew of shops who charged upwards towards this amount pre-Covid. That was normal for them, regardless of me thinking that was high. Who knows what it is now.

The fee mix-up bothers me the most about your situation. $50 vs $100? Not even close.

If they are responsible for their GB information, print it out and show them after you pick it up and ask for a refund or store credit.

OP, always call and confirm rates. Covid or not.

A lot of stores will charge that fee because they want to be the ones to sell their guns in stock, or order it for you and make money from that. Shop around small stores and they'll probably do it for a lot less. I had one do it for 35-50 while others were charging 75 to 100+.

I can only imagine how many off roster guns are showing up at ffls all over california. My wifes liberal public school teacher nut is adimate that since the gunshop near him is advertising beretta m9a3's in stock that he is going to be able to run down there today and buy one. I told him that was for police only. He responded with that's false advertising because it doesnt clearly say police only (it's a Davidson's ad on the local ffl page). He said he is going to try and force the issue. I said "good luck with that".

The DROS should be $31.19. A PPT adds $10. You aren't doing a PPT and should only be charged the DROS fee.

Lmao. He already mentioned early on in his search to just drive to nevada and buy what he wants since their laws are so lax.

My last FFL decided to up there transfer fee to a $100 also.

No longer shop there, also no longer do CCW renewals there.

His shop his rules, but it's my money...
