FFL TO FFL transfer fees?

I had a little sticker shock from buying a $70 lower and then paying $125 total for DROS, Transfer, etc. It was a lumped sum amount with no breakdown. I made the mistake of selecting an approved FFL from PSA's drop list without asking if I could use my preferred FFL. Are these fees in line with other LGS's? I would have bought 2 or 3 lowers to dollar cost average. HAHA!

Shop around for FFL fees BEFORE you pick the FFL...

Some places are much cheaper than what you quoted.

Under CA laws/regulations...

For a PPT, a CA FFL dealer is limited to charging a maximum of $10 for their transfer fee.

For a non-PPT, a CA FFL dealer is not limited in what they can legally charge to facilitate the transfer.



From personal experience...

I typically paid DROS fee + $60 for an out-of-state transfer.

I've been quoted DROS fee + between $60 to $250 for an out-of-state transfer.

Shop around before ordering online and don't forget to factor in CA sales/use tax.

Lesson learned for sure. I have done PPT's but this was my first out of state purchase.

Thats not to bad. The dros is like 42 bucks alone plus 70 plus tax another 7 thats like 119 just that.

OK We should probably have a sticky with list of lowest priced ffls for transfers and locations. plus list of those that overcharge for dros.
