Why the heck are M&P Shield guns going so hot?

Did I miss something? I bought this gun for $300 not more than 3 years ago! Marketplace has them for at least twice that amount! Did they fall off the roster completely? I may have to trade up to a 1911 now.

It's pretty much the best carry gun you can get in CA, at least for that style. Would love a P365 or G43X, but nope...
Got mine for $450 and pick it up tomorrow. Fired one at the range first and it's a great little shooter [emoji16]

COVID panic-buying, it's a 9x19mm handgun, and it's frankly one of maybe a couple of on-roster handguns that qualify as subcompacts targeted at the concealed carry market of handguns?

Frankly I'm surprised the influx of them into California hasn't gone dry considering how bad S&W has it churning out their 2.0 off-roster Shields for all the free state panic buyers.

I can't understand the 9mm craze. Hard to find a gun or ammo. Meanwhile my 45acp Glock 30SF sits for $2-300 less than 19s and 26s are going for. I'd much rather end an argument with a 45 than get sued by the guy I shot with a 9.

turners is one of the largest gun chains in cali and has massive preorder list from the newbs late to the game. Stick to mom n pop shops or ranges as they get batch orders here n there.


I took screen shots when they first hit the shelf at local small shop/ranges $520 for full MSRP w/ hi viz sights and color options.

Was just at Turner's picking up a gun, a guy wanted to put a deposite in on a Glock, guy behind the counter said: you'll be number 642 in line with a deposit. He wasn't kidding.
