Sling ring levergun idea?

I really want to put a carbine sling ring on my Puma 92 SS levergun but no one makes a SS ring or SS stud.

Any ideas on how I would go about making such a stud or where to drill the hole for the stud? Even crazier, how about welding a ring onto the receiver? My brother is a really good welder and he could totally pull it off but what about the aesthetics and longevity?

You could have one machined, any decent machine shop should be able to turn and thread it. Drilling and tapping the receiver is no big deal. The problem will be finding a non-critical spot on the receiver and I don't think I would weld it onto the receiver, possible heat treatment issues. I have a Win 94 trapper and had the saddle ring moved to the right side of the receiver(drill and tap), so I know it can be done.

You might want to do the ring and slide bar, like the ones found on the Spencer carbines. This was my second choice if I couldn't get the stud moved.

Have you looked at these from Uncle Mikes? Since they are blued and yours are stainless. Just get the bluing removed and have them nickel plated. Uncle Mikes might already have them that way, just not online. But the bluing might be a good contrast.
