    Flush Comp Build CA Compliant?!?

Want to start my P320 flush comp. but will it be CA compliant if I pin and weld the comp to the barrel?

My only confusion is people saying that threaded barrels are illegal in CA. Some say the threaded barrel itself is legal to have as a "part" some say its completely illegal to have in CA.

Some say it's legal as long as the Comp attached to it is pinned and welded. Other say it doesn't matter if its pinned and welded because underneath is still a threaded barrel.....What are your guys thoughts?

Bottom line question is if I were to get a threaded barrel, attach a comp and pin/weld the comp so that its PERMANENT would my P320 be CA compliant?

    Thanks!

Threaded barrels on a pistol in California make it an assault weapon. There is no constructive possession in California for assault weapons so they are legal to own.

As I recall Walther had some pistols in California that had threaded barrels. I believe the fix they used to make them legal was permeant thread locker on the thread cap. That would suggest a pin/weld should be enough.

That said unless you can find a test case there is always a chance it will be you.

      It is currently...
~ It is CA legal to own/possess an unattached threaded barrel.
~ It is CA legal to own/possess a semi-auto pistol and an unattached threaded barel.
^ However, it is recommended that the threaded barrel is stored/transported seperately from the semi-auto pistol.
~ It is CA illegal to own/possess a semi-auto pistol that does not have a fixed magazine with an attached threaded barrel. [PC 30515(a)(4)(A)]
~ It is CA legal to own/possess a semi-auto pistol that has a fixed 10 round magazine with an attached threaded barrel.
~ It is CA legal to own/possess a manually operated (bolt-action, lever-action, pump-action) repeating pistol with an attached threaded barrel.
~ It is CA legal to own/possess a single-shot pistol with an attached threaded barrel.
~ It is CA legal to own/possess a revolver with an attached threaded barrel.

Removing the threads on the threaded barrel or permanently attaching a muzzle device (cap, compensator, etc) have been CA legal methods of making a threaded barrel into a non-threaded barrel.

CA regulations [11 CCR 5471(d)] state "Permanent methods of attachment include full-fusion gas or electric steel-seam welding, high-temperature (1100o F) silver soldering, or blind pinning with the pin head welded over".
^CA LE agencies and/or any of the 58 DA's Offices may utilize that to determine if a muzzle device is permanently attached on a threaded barrel, so that it is no longer considered a threaded barrel.

What occurred with the Walther P22 was an emergency fix to correct CA DOJ failing to initially notice the pistol had a threaded barrel.

To date, only Walther has been sanctioned by CA DOJ BOF to use a permanent thread locker/epoxy on a smooth (non-knurled, non-slotted) muzzle cap
^So, YMMV. But, per CA DOJ BOF, if a CA LE forensic/gun unit can remove it while they are examining/testing it, then it will be considered a threaded barrel.
