    BLM Barstow area open for shooting?

    Called to ask but Barstow field office is closed. Figured someone here would know this.

        I tried to reach Carson City office for 3 weeks on fire closures, OK to shoot, etc. Finally got a response via email saying, basically, be safe. That was it. Saw two people in two days, perfect.

          Why don't you go to blm barstow website and the fire closure order page. It say closed april 29th and shows the boundaries. Took 2 minutes.

            Barstow area is currently under stage two. Stage three prohibits target practice.

            Stage II Restrictions - Setting, building, maintaining, attending, or using open fire of any kind is prohibited, except campfires within approved fire pits and grills provided for in developed recreation sites; or campfires within the Imperial County Special Recreation Management Areas with a valid California Campfire Permit. Controlled flame devices such as portable stoves and lanterns with shut-off valves,using gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel are allowed and require a valid California Campfire Permit. Smoking is only permitted within an area that is clear of any vegetation for a minimum of 5 feet in all directions.

            Stage III Restrictions - Setting, building, maintaining, attending, or using open fire of any kind is prohibited. Controlled flame devices such as portable stoves and lanterns with shut-off valves,using gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel are allowed with a valid California campfire permit. Smoking is only permitted within enclosed vehicles or camp trailers.

              Thank you notpc. Last time before scandemic the site said closed but when I called they said good to go. Gonna go lay on rock like a lizard.

                It's the desert pick a secluded spot not near a road and start firing. You don't need permission.
